Frequently asked questions

So you’re interested in life coaching with me…? Great! I hope we can start working together soon. In the meantime, here are some questions you might be asking about how life coaching works:

How long do the life coaching sessions last?

I offer an initial 30 minute free session to understand what you’re looking to get from life coaching and to check that we’re a good fit for each other. Following this, each session will be around 60-75 minutes long.

How will we know if we’re the right fit for each other?

The 30 minute free session is to give you a chance to see if we’re the right fit for each other. I’ll talk about what my style of coaching is during this introductory session so you can learn a bit about me.

I think you’ll be able to sense pretty quickly if you feel at ease working with me and I promise to be honest if what you’re looking to explore is outside of my expertise.

Are the sessions face-to-face?

I live in Brighton (in the UK) and can offer life coaching face-to-face in Brighton if you live in the area. Most of the people I work with do life coaching with me over Skype or FaceTime, which works really well.

When will the sessions take place?

I am as flexible as possible to fit in with your life. I tend to be free during the evenings, over lunch hours and at weekends.

What accreditation do I have?

I’ve undertaken a rigorous coaching qualification through Animas, a coaching school based in the UK. This involved 50 hours of coaching, essay submissions, weekend practicums and an assessed coaching session. I passed this training in December 2017.


How long will we need to work together?

When we have our introductory coaching session, I’ll suggest how many sessions we might like to book in together and how frequently we might like to meet (usually once a fortnight).

When I had coaching myself, I committed to 10 sessions over 6 months and extended it to have 6 further sessions as I wasn’t fully ready to stop my life coaching journey. This was because I had a lot of areas I wanted to cover – getting clarity with my career, letting go of some areas in my past and growing in self-acceptance.

The amount of coaching we’ll do depends on what you’re looking to get from our coaching.

Do I need to prepare for the sessions?

Our sessions will be led by you and what you want to get from coaching. I’ll send an e-mail to prompt you to think about what you’d like to talk about in advance of our sessions and will always ask at the start of the session what you’d like to talk about. It can be really helpful to think about what you’d like to cover in advance of the coaching session.

Saying that, some people aren’t sure what they want to talk about and the point of the coaching is to find some direction. If that’s the case, we’ll explore together what might be important to you – your values, desires, dreams – and go from there.

What topics will we cover in coaching?

Coaching with me will be led 100% by what you’re looking to see transformed in your life. This could be coaching about your career, family, business, future aspirations, self-esteem, health, becoming a mother or father…

My training in transformational coaching may well lead us to cover a variety of areas in your life. If you’re wanting to progress in your career, we might also cover areas holding you back (such as your self-esteem and personal values) but the sessions will always be led by you and what you’re comfortable discussing.

What can I do to get the most from our sessions?

You’ll get the most from our time together if you truly focus and invest in exploring yourself, developing new self-awareness and giving 100% to this work. Coaching isn’t a ‘quick-fix’ – the best results are found when you commit fully to this work and approach your goals with focus.

Will we be in touch outside of the coaching sessions?

Yes, outside of the sessions I offer e-mail support and will check-in to offer some accountability for what you’ve committed to do in our sessions together. Having had coaching myself, I know how important this between session support can be.

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Counselling is past-focused and involves exploring what’s happened in the past which leads to greater insight about your feelings and behaviours.

In coaching, we won’t dwell so much on the past. We’ll instead focus on the future and what it will take for you to achieve, grow and make progress in your life.

How do I pay for life coaching?

I will ask for you to pay for our sessions in advance via paypal or bank transfer. We’ll talk about this when we have our introductory session or via e-mail after you’ve agreed that coaching with me is something you’d like to commit to.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. If you need to cancel a session, I ask you to give me 24 hours notice. If you don’t do this, you will still be charged for the session. All my terms and conditions are detailed on this page of my website.
